On March 6, 2026, we officially launched a major resilience initiative in Embaseneyti Woreda through a start-up workshop held in Hawzen Town for the project “Strengthening the Resilience and Equity of the Embaseneyti Population in the Face of the Impacts of War and Climate Change.” The workshop brought together representatives from woreda and tabia administrations, sector government bureaus and offices, including Agriculture, Water, Women Affairs, and Social
Affairs, along with community leaders, and representatives of women and youth groups, creating an important platform to build a shared understanding of the project objectives, implementation approach, and the collaborative roles of institutions and communities in strengthening resilience in the region.
Implemented by Chain for Love for Human & Environmental Development (COLHED) and funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and cofinanced by Manos Unidas, the project aims to strengthen community resilience in Embaseneyti Woreda, Tigray/Ethiopia, by promoting climate-resilient agriculture, improving livelihoods, and supporting women’s economic empowerment in communities affected by war and climate change.
The workshop concluded with a strong commitment from local authorities and community representatives to actively support the project. Stakeholders expressed confidence that successful implementation will improve livelihoods, strengthen climate resilience, and promote gender equity in Embaseneyti population.
